In the Opposite Dugout – Josh Gowling

After joining Hereford FC as a player in December 2018, Josh took up the reins as the Bulls interim-manager a little over a year later. Impressing during a short spell alongside assistant Steve Burr, the experienced central defender was offered the role permanently in the summer of 2020.

Coventry born Josh began his playing career at West Bromwich Albion prior to a year with Herfolge Boldklub in Denmark. Upon returning to the UK he signed for Bournemouth where he established himself in the Football League.

After three seasons on the south-coast he had a short spell at Carlisle before moving on loan to Edgar Street during the 2008/2009 season. Josh chalked up 56 appearances for Gillingham before a year at Lincoln saw him feature in his 250th first team game.

He then moved to Kidderminster on deadline day in August 2012 and enjoyed a very successful time at the Harriers first becoming captain in 2014, before taking up a player-coach role too. Josh was selected for the Conference Team of the Year in the 2012/2013 season.

In March 2015 he linked up with Grimsby Town, initially on loan, and played in the Mariners 3-1 victory over Forest Green Rovers in the 2016 National League play-off final at Wembley. His performances gained him a place in the 2015/2016 National League Team of the Year. After a season with Torquay United, and a loan spell at Alfreton, he then joined Hereford, and has over 500 first team appearances under his belt.

One To Watch – Harry Pinchard

Fresh from having signed a new two-year contract extension at Hereford, Harry Pinchard will be looking to build on his impressive run of form in the FA Cup this weekend. The youngster has already netted twice in this season’s competition and was named man of the match for his performance in Hereford’s 4-0 victory over Lymington. Pinchard will be hoping his displays in the FA Cup can lead to more regular minutes in the league as he looks to force his way into Gowling’s plans.
