Role Title: Project Coordinator

Overall Purpose of role: To lead and coordinate Solihull Moors Moor Ability project

Professional qualifications or essential experience required: Essential – Experience of coordinating sports and community projects, working with young people with disabilities, administration and monitoring experience, knowledge of Excel and Word, FA Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football, First Aid and Child Protection qualified.

Desirable – Knowledge of Access, Photoshop and Desktop Publisher, Healthy Living, experience of working within Frame/Deaf Football.

Reports to: Board of Directors

Responsibility for staff: Project Coaches

Salary and duration: To be discussed at interview – 35hrs each week

Core activities:

Lead the Moor Ability Project

· Work closely with Directors to plan and coordinate the Moor Ability Project.

· Organise and lead taster sessions at schools around North and South Solihull and recruit participants for the Moor Ability Project, while discussing individual children’s needs with parents.

· Oversee delivery of sessions within the Moor Ability Project – be central point of contact for families of participants and coaches.

· Attend all six regular Moor Ability sessions in both locations.

· Lead delivery of the Level One Coaching courses for five young volunteers, coordinating completion of certification and workbooks.

· Recruit participants for existing teams in FA Ability Counts league and form new ones as necessary.

· Carry out risk assessments for all elements of the project.

· Monitor progress of project and individual participants.


· Ensure regular maintenance on all equipment.

· Coordinate with wider Solihull Moors staff across club to ensure complimentary activities.

Project promotion

· Liaise with Directors to ensure all marketing information is correct, and we are promoting project to those most in need of it. Support the design, print and circulation of all Marketing Literature.

· Liaise and plan with Directors ensuring all activities are promoted through the Club’s media channels.

Observation and Monitoring

· Track and monitor progress of the projects using register, participant, and parent evaluation forms and by liaising with coaches.

· Collect and collate reporting evidence during project-e.g. register/case studies, and use to write up short individual progress reports on all individuals.

· Report regularly to the Directors on project progress, providing honest and constructive feedback.

· Document your workload and communicate your activities with everyone.


· Help provide content for news stories, and help update website.

Person Specification

A qualified and experienced sports community project manager who is:

· Committed to Solihull Moors and its vision.

· Qualified and Experienced Football coach holding The FA Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football.

· Sensitive to the needs of participants who have significant disabilities and life challenges.

· Prepared to challenge and innovate.

· A team player able to communicate effectively to people of a variety of ages, and who are both able bodied and disabled.

· Able to use own intuition and common sense in the role.

· Flexible, with a willingness to learn and expand own role.
