Tim Flowers Takes Over Hot Seat, Assisted by Gary Whild
PUBLISHED: 20th Jun 18

Solihull Moors are delighted to announce that Tim Flowers has been appointed as First Team Manager at the club. Assisting him will be Gary Whild.

Tim has quickly become a firm favourite at Moors having arrived with Mark Yates last November as the partnership performed what was considered at the time to be the near impossible task of keeping the club in the National League.

Locally based Tim was born in Kenilworth starting his goalkeeping career with Wolverhampton Wanderers before seven seasons at Southampton and then six with Blackburn Rovers in a £2.4 million deal which at the time made him the most expensive goal keeper in Britain. He was a key member of the Rovers team that came second in the Premier league in his first season and then won the title in 1994/95.

Tim was capped 11 times for England and hung up his boots in 2003.

Since then he has been the Goalkeeping Coach at Leicester City, Manchester City, Northampton Town, Nottingham Forest and Fulham where during his tenure the club reached the play offs. He has also been Assistant manager at Coventry, Queens Park Rangers, Hull and Kidderminster.

Tim is delighted with his appointment:

“The great escape ranks as one of my biggest achievement in Football and now to have the opportunity to build on everything we achieved last season is the icing on the cake.

"I would like to thank the Board for their confidence both in me and Gary Whild with whom I have an excellent working relationship.

"With the pre season games scheduled in less than three weeks there is much to do and I cannot wait to get started.”

Gary Whild was also part of the management team last season and needs little introduction to Moors fans.

He joined the club after promotion to the National League having started his managerial career with Stourport Swifts before moving onto Redditch United at the turn of the century where he helped to mastermind a revolution as the club rose to being a founder member of the Conference North.

Gary has vast experience of non-league’s top flight following his time with Kidderminster Harriers between 2010 and 2015. He has a reputation for nurturing latent talent in young players and his enthusiasm and knowledge of what it takes to compete at National League level will be an added bonus.

“We have built something quite special at Moors and to be working with Tim Flowers as we move into our third season at the highest non league level is really exciting".

"There are challenging times ahead and we both relish the opportunity of taking Moors successfully through them.”
