Moors Extend Football Facilities to More Children
PUBLISHED: 4th May 18

Moors are delighted to announce that the first session of “Frame Football” was held last Saturday at Lode Heath School. Twelve youngsters attended the inaugural event which will run for a further seven weeks at the school every Saturday between 12.30 pm and 2.00 pm

Up to 30 participants can be accommodated and is open to boys and girls between the ages of  six to sixteen. The children bring their own frames.

Frame Football provides football to physically disabled players who need to use walker style frames. After a slow start in 2013, teams are appearing all across the UK, Ireland and beyond. The Frame Football Association held its first big national tournament at St. George's Park in November 2015

Cerebral Palsy Sport have designed, developed and trialled Frame Football with lots of feedback from coaches, equipment specialists, physiotherapists, parents and the players themselves to create a truly player centred football opportunity.

As of January 2017 there were over 40 affiliated cerebral palsy football teams across the country. In addition to this, there are a range of less formal turn-up-and-play  sessions for those who are either new to the game or prefer an informal atmosphere – it is at this level initially that Moors have decided to introduce the game.

Solihull Moors are  running the scheme from funds received via a Tesco grant scheme in partnership with Groundworks UK. The coaches are Mark Fogarty, Barry Walker, Scott Langford and Cordell Millen who all have the FA Coaches Disability qualification and are experienced in working with children and adults with Special needs. – Parents really appreciate this and the flexibility the coaches introduce to the sessions

Mark Fogarty, Head of Sport at the club is delighted with the response;

“Fantastic turnout -  one of the best feelings I’ve ever had. Along with the staff and parents, to see the smiles and joy on these children's faces who are now able to play the game they love, is incredible ”

Please get in touch if you would like to join in. Mark Fogarty is on  07564 926231.

Lode Heath School is in Lode Lane, Solihull, B91 2HW
