*A look ahead to tomorrow's clash at the ATG Stadium - by Matt Roberts*
PUBLISHED: 9th Apr 18

Solihull Moors host Maidstone United tomorrow evening (April 10) at The Automated Technology Group Stadium – kick-off 7:45pm.

The Moors find themselves in 20th place; the first time they have been out of the relegation zone under Mark Yates whilst Maidstone sit just two places above the Moors in 18th place.

Yates will have to do without central defender Liam Daly who serves the first game of his two-match ban following a straight red card at Hartlepool United on Saturday.

Our visitors have been on a poor run of form with no win in their past five games. Last time out, they managed to earn a point at bottom of the table Guiseley with their only other point coming at home to leaders Macclesfield back in March.

The Moors are now unbeaten in their previous five games with two wins and three draws. A late Adi Yussuf goal secured all three points for Yates’ men away at Hartlepool on Saturday and with four clean sheets in a row, Solihull will be confident going in to tomorrow’s game.

In the opposite dugout

Jay Saunders was appointed manager of The Stones in 2011. The 39-year-old led the Kent club to three promotions in four years having gained promotion from the Isthmian League Division One South to the Isthmian League Premier Division in 2012. Saunders then guided The Stones to promotion to the National League South back in 2015 where it took just one season for them to be promoted to the National League.

Opposition key man

Stuart Lewis (Midfielder) - The midfielder joined Maidstone from Ebbsfleet at the start of last year originally on a season-long loan, before it was made permanent at the end of last season. The captain was then awarded Supporters Player of the Year.

A quote from the gaffer

Mark Yates: “Our aim is to win on Tuesday. Our home record says we’ve got a chance at doing that and there’s belief within the group that it can happen

The last time the two sides met

The Moors travelled to The Gallagher Stadium last November which was the first game of Mark Yates’ regime. Moors fell behind to a Joe Pigott goal inside 42 seconds but Kwame Thomas, on debut, made no mistake from close range as Lee Worgan parried an Akwasi Asante shot to earn a well-deserved point and move Yates’ side off the foot of the table.

Did you know?

Manchester United and England centre-half Chris Smalling was a product of Maidstone United’s academy and youth team set-up. He made his Maidstone debut in 2007 against Tonbridge Angels in the Kent Senior Cup. Three years after his debut, and via Fulham, Smalling signed for Manchester United where he has made over 150 appearances spanning over seven years.
