*'We are all in it together and fighting for each other' - by Chris Cresswell*
PUBLISHED: 12th Jan 18

In the first edition of 2018 of Captain's Log, Solihull Moors captain Darren Carter reflects on the team's good over the festive period, penalty taking duties, and his New Year resolution to venture into veganism.

Happy new year to everyone and hereís to a successful 2018 for us all.

The year ended on a high with a fantastic hard fought win at Barrow followed by another come from behind victory at home to Maidenhead. Two huge victories and the first time weíve gone back to back this season. Follow that up with a gritty point at league leaders Macclesfield and all of a sudden the picture is starting to change a little.

Credit to the staff and the boys for the effort and commitment shown over the festive period. Itís always testing with so many games in a short space of time but we can be satisfied with our return. One of the most pleasing aspects of this period has been the character shown by the boys, this is what is required till the last ball is kicked if we want to achieve our goal of survival.

On a personal level it was nice to get a couple of goals, although I enjoyed the strike against Maidenhead, the Barrow one gave me more satisfaction as it was on the right peg!

We ask a lot of each other as a team and demand 100 per cent and as captain it is a pleasure to lead out this squad of players because we are all in it together and fighting for each other. Spirit in the camp is very high.

The positivity has kept rolling with the permanent arrival of Jamey Osborne followed by the signing of Kyle Storer. Ozzy oozes class & his performances have been brilliant since coming back. Kyle is a player Iíve battled against a fair few times and is great coup for the club. He is a natural leader and along with being a very assured player, he gives his absolute all for the cause. These two signings show a real intent on where the club wants to go.

You may have noticed Jamie Reckord took the match winning penalty against Barrow, as I missed my last one and I knew there were a few hounding me for a chance to step up, I offered them the opportunity. Jamie took the reins and coolly slotted it home. Although Iím keeping a close eye on it from here on out as Iím always ready to take the responsibility back.

We look ahead to firstly a tough trip all the way up north to Spennymoor this weekend. It was strange only just finding out on Tuesday who we would be playing with themselves and Gainsborough unable to get the game played due to the weather. But after four attempts they finally got the match on and itís a trip to Durham. We are four games from Wembley so our sole focus is winning the tie and progressing along with keeping our fine run going.

Woking will be our next league game and hopefully we will be returning home and going into the game on the back of a cup win and high in confidence. Momentum is always the key and we want to ride this wave all the way to May.

Lastly, I was asked about new year resolutions, Iím never big on them but I have ventured into veganism! My time at Forest Green opened me up to the vegan diet/lifestyle and having done my research Iím making the change. Iíll keep you updated with my progress!

As always your support has been incredible and you continue to stick with us through thick and thin! Letís keep this feel good factor going and continue our quest up the table.
