It has been another
extremely productive and successful week for the Moors Academy as it continues to develop some of the most talented
youngsters in the area.
Highly regarded prospects
Romario Martin and Rhys Mason have both joined Midland Football Premier
Division side Highgate United on-loan until the end of the season.
The duo will now play three
levels higher than Moors Academy and their move has been described by Academy
Director of Sport Mark Fogarty as one that will be ‘great for their
Martin, who recently
represented and scored for St. Kitts and Nevis at the U20 World Cup, has netted an impressive 10
goals in 10 appearances for Moors Academy this season while Mason has recently returned from a
long-standing hamstring injury.
Martin has also been given
permission to play for Moors Academy in the upcoming County Cup final against either Burton Albion or Romulus.
In other news, it has been
an extra special week for Moors Academy product Callum Coyle as he made his first team debut
on Saturday in the 3-3 home draw with Braintree.
Coyle, who signed first team
forms last month, came on to replace Oladapo Afolyan in the final minute of the
game as Liam McDonald’s side came back from 3-0 down to earn a point.
Another Academy star who
recently put pen to paper on first team forms is Tyrese Shade. He has impressed
lately and featured for former club Birmingham City
on trial against Mansfield last weekend. The club are waiting to hear back from
Blues on whether they want to take the situation any further.
To add to the success this
weekend, our reserve side cruised to an 8-1 victory against Castle Vale. Martin
stole the show scoring a hat-trick whilst James Medford collected the Man of
the Match trophy for his fine display.
Our U18s and U19s are both
in action this week as they travel to Nuneaton (14/03) and
Kidderminster (15/03) respectively, looking to continue the
terrific form of all of our sides.
