Foursome still in McDonald's thoughts
*Solihull Moors boss confirms Pearson Mwanyongo, Nathan Vaughan, Luke Rodgers and Charlie Morris are still in his plans*
PUBLISHED: 27th Feb 17
Liam McDonald has outlined the thinking behind four members of The Moors' first-team squad leaving for other clubs.

Forward Pearson Mwanyongo (pictured), goalkeeper Nathan Vaughan, striker Luke Rodgers and midfielder Charlie Morris have all turned out for clubs elsewhere in the non-league pyramid in recent weeks.

Mwanyongo, signed from Gresley on New Year's Eve, has joined Barwell, of the Evo-Stik League Northern Premier, on a one-month loan and scored in Saturday's 1-1 draw against Halesowen Town.

McDonald explained: Its been a big jump up for Pearson coming from step four, however Im happy with him and hes part of my plans going forward.

"I just felt its a good time for him to go and get four, five or six games under his belt at step three.  I know hell show Solihull fans what hes about. Fitness-wise, he was lacking a little bit from the level hes come from."

Elsewhere, Vaughan made a star turn for Bromsgrove Sporting in their 2-0 Buildbase FA Vase quarter-final victory over Buckland Athletic but has since linked up with Worcester City in the Vanarama National League North.

But McDonald still hopes to see Vaughan back at The Moors ahead of the 2017/18 season.

"We did Bromsgrove a favour, we wanted to help them out," he said.

"It was the first time Nathan had played in three months and he saved a penalty as well. With Vaughany, hes still part of my plans, it was just a case that hes not played much this season and he could do with getting a few games to get fit ready for pre-season.

"With us having Nathan Baxter and Danny Lewis, weve got two good goalkeeper. Worcester are one of my old clubs who are going through a tough time so we're giving them a helping hand with their goalkeeping situation."

Meanwhile Morris and Rodgers have both taken to the field for Redditch United recently, with the latter having since linked up with Stourbridge.

McDonald said: "Luke has gone out to  get some first-team football.

"Charlie is at Redditch and hes been doing well, he's a positive young lad with a lot of talent and is someone that we've got high hopes for but hes still learning his trade.

"Playing at step three for the rest of the season and getting games under his belt will hold him in good stead for pre-season when hell come in and try to kick on with The Moors."
